The Diocese of Abakaliki Catholic Schools are dedicated to the mission of providing our young people with a catechetical program that will help them grow in faith, hope and love. Our schools work to put Christ at the center of everything that we do. We are dedicated to staffing these programs with well-trained catechists, each of whom serve as authentic role models of Catholic faith. We provide these catechists with excellent resources for instruction, prayer, service opportunities, and community-building activities.

In partnership with parents, the primary educators of children in the ways of faith, it is our goal to help our students deepen their understanding of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. With God’s help, our efforts will assist students’ growth into adults whose faith is living, conscious, and active.

In conjunction with the Office of Faith Formation and the Office of Catholic Identity, the Department of Catholic Schools has developed Religion Curriculum Guidelines. These serve as an integrated catechetical plan for the whole diocese. Our programs and teachers are always growing and improving to meet the needs of our students. This allows for a comprehensive and systematic faith formation no matter what textbooks, models or cultural diversity is present.

These guidelines are consistent with the Catechism of the Catholic Church, The General Directory for Catechesis, and The National Directory for Catechesis.
